Artistic Excellence at the Tavcor Volkswagen Design-a-Kombi Competition

Collegiate is thrilled to announce that Ava Filmer and Jade van Tonder were selected among the Top 40 in the 2024 Tavcor Volkswagen Design-a-Kombi competition. The winners were revealed at the prestigious Gala Awards Evening on Thursday, 22 August 2024, at Tavcor. We are especially proud of Jade van Tonder, whose beautiful design earned her second place in the High School category. Congratulations also go to Sibulele Mayenwa from Victoria Park High School, the overall winner of the competition.

Victorious in Netball: Gold at the First Choice Invitational Fast 5 Tournament

Our Collegiate Girls' High School netball team triumphed over the weekend at the First Choice Invitational Fast 5 Netball Tournament hosted by Nico Malan High School. The team brought home the gold medal, and we couldn't be prouder of their outstanding performance and teamwork.

Musical Mastery: Amy Elliott's Gold Medal Win

A round of applause for Grade 12 pianist Amy Elliott, who won the Gold Medal in the High School Music Grades 7 and higher category at the Annual SASMT Music Competition. Her performance was nothing short of magnificent, and we commend her for her dedication and talent.

Finalists in the SASMT Gqeberha Centre Annual Music Competition

Several of our talented music learners participated in the SASMT Gqeberha Centre Annual Music Competition this weekend. We are proud to announce that Achuma Kelemana, Amy Elliott, and the Claribelles have been selected as finalists. They will be performing this afternoon at the Nelson Mandela University South Campus Auditorium. Tickets are available via Quicket or at the door. Congratulations to all the learners who took part!

Collegiate Star of the Week: Tyra Naidoo

We proudly recognize Tyra Naidoo, who recently concluded her two-year tenure on the Junior City Council. Serving as Head of Youth Development, Tyra was awarded the prestigious Speakers Cup for being the best overall public speaker on the JCC for 2024. Congratulations, Tyra, on this well-deserved honour.

Dance Triumphs:

We are very proud of our Irish dancers who competed at the La Lucia Irish Dancing Championships in Durban last weekend.

* Shanna du Plessis (Grade 11) - Champion of the Special Section for girls 16-18 years

* Tanith Brito (Grade 11) won the PC5 section (“Mean Ghrad”)

* Kate Rose Innes (Grade 9) won the PC4 section (“Advanced Tus Ghrad”)

Grade 12 learner Lara Gaudin delivered remarkable performances at the recent Friendly City Dance Festival, earning the following accolades:

  • Demi-Character Repertoire Ballet Solo: Double Gold
  • Classical Solo: Double Gold
  • Senior Student Choreography: Double Gold
  • Senior Ballet Championship: Runner-Up

Lara also participated in a group dance with our deputy head girl, Mignonne Coley, which was awarded Double Gold and won the Best Ensemble Ballet Group at the festival. We are incredibly proud of Lara and her achievements.

Emma Price achieved excellent results at the Friendly City Dance Festival:

  • Amateur Classical Solo: Gold
  • Amateur Character Solo: Double Gold
  • Pre-Senior Ballet Championship: Winner
  • 15-16 Years Ballet Sectional: Winner

Jemma van der Mescht also shone at the festival with the following results:

  • Amateur Tap Junior Championships: Runner-Up
  • Amateur Tap Straight Solo: Gold
  • Amateur Tap Character Solo: Gold
  • Amateur Modern/Contemporary Junior Championships: Runner-Up
  • Amateur Modern/Contemporary Straight Solo: Double Gold
  • Amateur Modern/Contemporary Character Solo: Gold

Well done, Jani Muller:

We are extremely proud of Jani Muller and her companion Bel Punto who have been selected for the 2024 SAWMGA Eastern Cape Junior 4 Team. They will be representing the Eastern Cape at the SAWMGA Gold National Championships, which will take place from 25 - 27 September 2024 at the Afridome Show Grounds in Parys, Free State. Only the top horse/rider combinations from each province were considered for selection into the Provincial Teams and invited to participate in this prestigious event.

Well done, Madison Law:

Congratulations to Madison Law who has been selected for the Youth B Womens Eastern Cape Provincial Mountain Bike Team or NMB District Schools Teams (NMB District) that will be going to the 2024 National Schools MTB Championships from 21-22 September 2024, to be held at Die Wagpos Hoërskool in Brits.

Well done, Yanelisa Nomoyi:

Yanelisa Nomoyi traveled to Germany as part of an exchange program and there she competed in running and triathlon events. She placed 3rd in her age group for running and 5th for the triathlon.
